A Day In Miami, FL

Miami is such a great place to visit. It’s got that cool Caribbean vibe that you won’t find anyplace else except South Florida, or well, the Caribbean of course. This time I stayed at the Marriott Biscayne Bay. With a beautiful view of the bay, and plenty of amenities you can’t go wrong staying here. Look at this view!

This is from one of the conference rooms.

and this is from my room…

of course, the view from the fitness room was amazing as well…

Hopefully, you’ll be as fortunate as I to catch the incredible sunset glowing from the buildings on Miami Beach across the bay…

Start your day by taking a walk to the shopping mall on Biscayne Blvd. You’ll see some cool and strange things on the way…

Someone’s yacht? I don’t know, but wish it was mine!

This is the Museum of Art…

This is the bayside market place at the mall for souvenirs…

There are all sorts of stores, and restaurants at the mall. I stopped in Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. for a light lunch. I hadn’t ever tried it, but always wanted to since the movie. Good food, and fun atmosphere, but it won’t blow your socks off. Next, grab an ice cream or a slushy, and step outside to walk along the bay…

After that, head back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner. We’re heading to Miami Beach! I highly recommend a taxi, Lyft or Uber when going to Miami Beach. It’s a hapnin’ place, and parking can be tough. Also, getting around at night in the South Beach area can come to a crawl. Here’s a view of the bay as you’re heading towards Miami Beach.

Now, I’m going to give you a choice of 2 restaurants because 1 is a little more upscale than the other. The first one is Havana 1957 Española Way. If you’re looking to eat someplace that appeals to the tourist in you, this is a neat little Cuban place with great vibe, and excellent service.

They serve you fresh made salty plantain chips. So good for a little snack before dinner! They are in the little bucket at the top of the photo. I had the “Palomilla a la plancha”. Not my best choice in dishes, the steak was a little tough, but hey, it’s all good. There are plenty of other traditional Cuban meals to choose from.

Request a table on Española Way if you’re a people watcher. Here’s the view down Española Way.

You can walk all up and down Washington Ave. for shopping, or walk 4 blocks East to South Beach. There’s another Havana 1957 on Ocean Drive nearer to the beach. I haven’t been to that one, but I am sure you’ll have a very similar and good experience there.

Now, if you’re into the “beautiful people” scene, then you must try Larios on the Beach. Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s Cuban restaurant at South Beach. There are sooo many good things to choose from here, but I can personally tell you the Camarones al Aljillo was excellent!

Lummus park is across the street and that overlooks the beach. Do some walking, and take in the scene at South Beach.  After all, you need the exercise after that awesome meal you just ate.

Enjoy your day!
